Σύμφωνα με μια παράδοση που σώζεται μέχρι σήμερα στην Βέροια ,ο Απόστολος Παύλος κατέβηκε στον λιμάνι της Μεθώνης Ελευθεροχωρίου περνώντας από το Αιγίνιο .
